Fuck yo couch, China

Sorry about the language mom, you did a great job raising me; that's just the only way I can think to fully express my hatred for this country right now.

China is to Olympics as Roger Clemens is to baseball. Well, not officially, but it's coming... "New news has come to light."

Despite the fact that China has produced passports stating that all of the girls are going to turn 16 this year, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) thinks they are dirty liars. They have said they are investigating further into the allegations that He Kexin is under the qualifying age of 16 with the International Gymnastics Federation.

The NY Times wrote: ( http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/sports/olympics/27gymnasts.html?_r=2&pagewanted=1&oref=slogin )

"Online records listing Chinese gymnasts and their ages that were posted on official Web sites in China, along with ages given in the official Chinese news media, however, seem to contradict the passport information, indicating that He and Jiang may be as young as 14 — two years below the Olympic limit. "

In case you didn't already know, China has a history for falsifying documents. In 2000 they falsified a passport for gymnast Yang Yun. She went on to win a bronze in the uneven bars....ironic...and then later admitted she was 14 at the time and that she and her coaches lied.

As you can see, on previous posts, I've complained about it, but I think Bela Karolyi put it best:

Bela Karolyi (Former USA Men's Coach) - "These people think we are stupid...We are in the business of gymnastics. We know what a kid of 14 or 15 or 16 looks like. What kind of slap in the face is this? They are 12, 14 years old and they get lined up and the government backs them and the federation runs away. There is an age limit and it can't be controlled."

In case you STILL don't believe me, here's the evidence:

I'm taking all of this from the following page ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-flumenbaum/scandal-of-the-ages-docum_b_118842.html )

Exhibit B

China Digital Times found this article and went ahead and translated it for us... ( http://chinadigitaltimes.net/2008/08/another-olympic-secret-how-old-is-he-kexin/ )

Exhibit C

This is in Chinese ( http://209.85.215.104/search?q=cache:lKKNqX5NgnwJ:www.sport.chengdu.gov.cn/escpecial/detail.asp%3FEventClassID%3D030308%26ID%3D28022+http://www.sport.chengdu.gov.cn/escpecial/detail.asp%3FEventClassID%3D030308%26ID%3D28022&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=firefox-a )

It states that ( http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/exhibitD.jpg) she is 14.

Exhibit D

This story goes into a ton more about other members of the team...but it's from a blog so who knows:

It's sad this is going to be the story of the Olympics. This country should be ashamed of itself, putting these young girls in this position. In good news, if all of this turns out to be true, the U.S. wins team gold (Alicia Sacramone is forgiven) and Nastia wins gold in uneven bars. It will be interesting to see how this turns out, I'll keep you updated...
